Atkins Nutritionals not too long ago announced that they’re filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. It seems that the “low carb craze” was nothing far more than merely a passing fad. Well the friends of mine I have arrived at both praise and bury the Atkins Diet.
I 1st found low carb diet programs about fifteen years ago — well biotox gold before and after, please click the next page, the recent popularity of theirs. My first introduction was by means of a book entitled “The Endocrine Control Diet.” Like the Atkins Diet as well as other low carb diets for that matter, it was based on a seriously restricted carbohydrate intake — less than 50 grams of carbohydrates per day. You put the body of yours into a state of ketosis and push it to burn off fat instead of sugar.
I was amazed at how quickly I managed to drop pounds on the diet plan. If memory serves correctly, I dropped fifteen lbs in little over 7 days. Of course, a part of it was water and muscle weight, though I additionally dropped quite a bit of unwanted fat. I can tell it was fat because my waistline shrunk substantially.
The “Endocrine Control Diet” was strict about keeping carbs low and continuing to be in a state of ketosis until you reached the fat loss goal of yours. This was monitored on a regular basis by peeing on Keto Strips to make certain you are still in ketosis. I stayed on the diet for aproximatelly two months prior to reverting back to the former diet of mine. The intriguing thing was that I managed to keep my weight down for another 3 months before getting back up to the place I was ahead of the diet.
I really should point out that during the diet which I was lifting weights and undertaking cardio exercise on a regular basis. I truly believe that this factor was vital in retaining lean muscle mass while dropping as much excess fat as you can while on a calorie restricted, low carbohydrate diet.
In the intervening years I tried different low carb diet programs that were all variations on the same design. The only one constant for me was keeping up with the weight training of mine as well as cardio exercise. Each & whenever I was able to drop fifteen – 20 lbs in as little as 3 weeks and keep it off for at least three months after stopping the diet.
The biggest problem I’ve with low carbohydrate diet programs is I’m really unable to remain on them for far more that three months in a time. It is simply too damn hard! Let us face it I like the carbs of mine. Being of Italian extraction I was raised on bread and pasta. I also like Chinese food with extra rice and also have a fondness for potatoes. Many these nuts are taboo on a low carbohydrate diet!
In the long run, a low carb diet just isn’t so reasonable or maybe very sociable for that matter. I have never been very worried about the health consequences though. I have had my cholesterol examined both on and off the low carb diet plans and there have been no variation in the readings even when I have consumed extra fat throughout several of the diet plans. The total cholesterol of mine has always hovered around 200, which could be lower, but is the cutoff for a normal level.
